Lost Account Passwords

  1. Click on the "Login" link in the upper right corner of the MediaFire home page
  2. Click the link "Forgot your password?" displayed under "Password"
  3. When prompted, enter the email address you used to create your MediaFire account. An email will be sent to you with a URL link. The email will come from "lostpassword@mediafire.com". Add this to your safe list and check your Inbox and Spam/Junk folder a few minutes after requesting the password reset link.
  4. Click the URL link which takes you to a MediaFire page where you can reset your password.

Password Reset Email is Missing

The first step is to check your Spam/Junk folder.

Try adding lostpassword@mediafire.com to your safe list and try the reset process again.

Contact our support department and explain what you have tried. Support will test the feature, verify the email was sent and check to see if there is a delivery problem.

For security purposes, customer support is unable to reset passwords. Before escalating a request for a password reset, customer support will ensure you are the account holder. You may need to supply information about the files uploaded to your account and, if you are Pro, billing details.

Deleting your account

To delete your MediaFire Basic account, go to your "My Account" page, select "Account and Billing" on the left side of the page. On the "Account and Billing Information" page, select "Delete My Account". You will be prompted to enter in your password to confirm the deletion of your account.

NOTE: Even if your account is currently Basic, if your account was ever MediaPro or Media-Business, the account cannot be deleted. Deleting a Basic account will delete all of the files and images ever uploaded to MediaFire. We will not be able to recover any of your files and images for you if you change your mind.

If you experience problems cancelling your subscription, contact customer support for assistance.

Common Upload Problems

  1. MediaFire Basic accounts have a size limitation of 20GB.
  2. MediaFire makes heavy use of JavaScript and Flash. Verify you have JavaScript and Flash FULLY enabled and updated to the latest version.
  3. Firewalls, ad blockers or anti-spam applications can mistake MediaFire actions and break or block uploads, downloads or file management. Try temporarily disabling any third party applications such as anti-virus software, anti-spam software, internet accelerators, download managers or firewall software. Add-ons and extensions installed on your web browser can sometimes interfere with your upload.
  4. Try your upload using a different browser.
  5. Try turning off SSL encryption if you have it turned on. It can sometimes interfere with large uploads.

Should problems persist, contact our support department detailing which of the above you have already tried and include:

  1. The file name, size and type you are trying to upload.
  2. The exact error you are getting when trying to upload. Click on the "Failure" to find the error code.
  3. The type of ISP connection you have, if you are behind a router and if you have a wireless or wired connection.
  4. Check your upload speed at www.speedtest.net and provide the URL on the results page.

Private Files

If the account holder of a file has restricted it with a password or indicated it is private, no one except the account holder can access it. The account holder can distribute a link to a file within a folder in their account and thereby allow other people access to view other files within that same folder. Due to our privacy policy we are unable to provide any information regarding our account holders or their account information.

My Files page does not load

  1. Your web browser may not be caching properly. Try clearing your cache and temporary files.
  2. Try a hard refresh of the page. To do a hard refresh: Click on CTRL and the 'R' key, or you can click on CTRL and hit 'refresh' in your browser.
  3. Try accessing My Files using IE.
